Reader,
We're kicking off a new series together this week learning how to play the great My Romance by Rodgers and Hart.
Since last week's YouTube video on upper structure dominant chords has been so popular, we're going to work a bunch of those voicings into this tune in the coming weeks.
But first, we have to lay some groundwork to learn the basics of the tune. Here's what I want you to work on this week:
- Download the lead sheet: My Romance.pdf
- Listen to at least 3 different recordings of this tune by different artists. Pick 1 that most inspires you, and tell us what you love about it so much. Post that in the "I'm Listening To" section of our community.
- Play through the melody with a metronome to get familiar and comfortable with it. Can you memorize it?
- Start working through our 2-hand comping voicings over these changes. (We'll work through these together this Friday)
The more prepared you come this Friday, the more you will get out of the session.
